Study Reveals the Households Pollutants That May Lead to Middle Aged Asthma

Research from Respirology reveals that middle aged men could reduce their risk of asthma by reducing exposure to mold and tobacco smoke in the home. The study, led by researchers from Australia, explored a variety of potential home pollutants to discover the risk of asthmatic symptoms in the middle aged.

The team used the Tasmanian Longitudinal Health Study, which accounts for 5729 long-term respondents. Mold, smoke and domestic heating and cooking appliances were identified as pollutants that may lead to respiratory symptoms.

Rooms with mold were most strongly associated with asthma, wheezing and nocturnal chest tightness. This was followed by tobacco smoke, although no link was found between appliances and asthma.
