The Ecological Society of America to Publish with Wiley

John Wiley and Sons Inc. announced today that it has been selected by the Ecological Society of America (ESA) as its publishing partner for its distinguished portfolio of scholarly journals in ecology. With over 10,000 members globally, the ESA is one of the largest and most highly regarded professional organizations for researchers and scientists working across the ecological sciences.

Beginning in January 2016, Wiley will assume publishing responsibility for ESA’s diverse portfolio of publications which include its flagship title, Ecology, and top-ranked journals, Ecological Monographs, Ecological Applications and Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, as well as its premier Open Access publications, Ecosphere and Ecosystem Health and Sustainability. Wiley will also publish the Society’s newsletter, The Bulletin of the Ecological Society of America, which will be freely available on Wiley Online Library.

Founded in 1915, the ESA has been an influential leader in disseminating knowledge and promoting awareness of the ecological sciences among researchers, policy makers, and the broader community for 100 years. In keeping with the ESA’s mission, the partnership will expand the global reach and visibility of the ESA publications, and provide an enhanced digital presence and exciting new services for ESA members, authors, readers, and editors.

“On the occasion of our 100th anniversary, we welcome this new publishing partnership,” said ESA President, Dr. David W. Inouye. “Wiley’s extensive experience with scientific publishing and marketing, as well as its resources for digital publishing, will improve the publication process for our authors, members and subscribers.”

“Wiley is truly honored to be selected as ESA’s publishing partner,” said Colette E. Bean, Vice President and Society Director for the US, Wiley.  “The ESA has a strong reputation for quality and publishing excellence, and their portfolio of journals represents some of the highest caliber, most cutting edge work in the field. We look forward to working with the ESA to further advance knowledge and stewardship of ecological systems around the world.”
